Some charges cannot be predicted before the flight. These may include weather-dependent de-icing, certain post-flight cleaning costs, or other services requested or required during the trip. When such charges apply, they are billed based on actual usage rather than added to your quote in advance.
What Is Included in a Private Jet Charter Quote?
Our charter quotes are designed to provide a clear picture of your total anticipated flight cost. Applicable taxes and other predictable fees are calculated before you receive your quote and included where appropriate.
For example, the 7.5% Federal Excise Tax (FET) applies to most domestic private charter flights within the 48 contiguous United States and is included in the charter quote when applicable. A domestic segment fee, set each year by the IRS and charged per passenger per flight segment, may also apply. FET does not apply to international routings or flights to and from Alaska and Hawaii.
Private flights within Europe may also be subject to country-specific passenger taxes and VAT on qualifying intra-European Union flights. These applicable taxes are calculated and included in the quote before booking.
Fees That May Be Billed Separately
Some charges depend on conditions or usage that cannot be known when the charter is quoted and are billed only when they actually occur.
- De-Icing Fees. De-icing is required when ice, snow, or frost must be removed from an aircraft before departure. Because the need for de-icing depends on weather conditions at the time of departure and the flight crew’s assessment, it is not included in the quote upfront. If required, the cost is billed based on actual usage.
- Pet Fees. Most private aircraft can accommodate pets, but additional cleaning or detailing may be required after a flight. If a pet causes damage or leaves a mess that requires specialized cleaning, the associated cost may be billed after the flight.
- Cleaning Fees. Normal passenger use is not considered an additional cleaning charge. A post-flight cleaning fee may apply when a spill, excessive mess, scratches, tears, or other damage requires cleaning, detailing, or repair beyond normal wear and tear.
- Wi-Fi Fees. Wi-Fi availability and pricing depend on the aircraft’s connectivity system. Many aircraft using air-to-ground connectivity offer Wi-Fi at no additional charge on domestic routes. Satellite-based systems may instead be billed according to usage after the flight. High-bandwidth activities such as streaming, large downloads, or virtual meetings can increase the final Wi-Fi charge.
Optional Private Jet Services
Several services can be arranged according to your preferences and itinerary.
- Catering. Private jet catering ranges from standard snacks and beverages to premium meals prepared by private chefs or local restaurants. Pricing depends on the menu, number of passengers, and departure airport.
- Ground Transportation. Ground transportation can be arranged before your flight, including private chauffeur services, SUVs, sedans, or rental vehicles positioned at the aircraft. Costs vary according to vehicle type, distance, waiting time, and travel demand.
- Additional Boarding Assistance. Passengers who require additional assistance boarding an aircraft can arrange support in advance through ground services. Third-party providers can assist passengers with mobility challenges or with boarding aircraft that require the use of stairs.
- Special Event Fees. Major events can create unusually high demand for aircraft parking, ramp space, ground handling, and staffing. During events such as the Super Bowl, Kentucky Derby, Formula One races, and certain holidays, FBOs may impose special event fees. These charges vary by FBO, aircraft category, and aircraft size. Because they depend on local airport conditions and event-related demand, our team recommends confirming that any applicable special event fees are reflected in your quote.
Every charter is priced according to the aircraft, routing, and services required for your trip. Request a quote for a clear breakdown of the anticipated costs and any applicable fees.
FAQ: Private Jet Charter Fees
1. Are private jet charter fees included in the quote?
2. Are there any fees that may be charged after the flight?
3. Why isn’t de-icing included in the initial quote?
De-icing depends on weather conditions and whether the aircraft actually requires treatment before departure. Including an estimated charge in every winter quote would mean charging for a service that may not be needed.
